2 Day Inca Trail Itinerary

Day 1: Hike to Machu Picchu from Km 104 - Ollantaytambo
Departure and Start of the Trek
The first day starts early. You will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 AM. Then, you will be taken to the train station in Ollantaytambo. At 6:10 AM, you'll take a train to Km 104, known as Chachabamba, arriving around 7:45 AM. Here, you'll start your trek after registering at the Inca Trail checkpoint and presenting your permits.
Hike to Wiñay Wayna
From Chachabamba, you will hike for about four hours to get to Wiñay Wayna. This site is one of the most amazing archaeological places along the trail. During this hike, you'll enjoy stunning landscapes and discover fascinating archaeological remains. Upon reaching Wiñay Wayna around 12:30 PM, you'll have a box lunch.
Towards sun gate (Inti punku) and First Glimpse of Machu Picchu
Continue your hike towards Intipunku, the Sun Gate, at 1:30 PM. From this point, you'll have your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu, a truly magical experience. Then, you'll descend to Machu Picchu for a quick view without a full guided tour. At 4:30 PM, you'll take a bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you'll check into your hotel. You'll have the afternoon free to explore Aguas Calientes, visit the hot springs, or simply relax. End the day with dinner at a local restaurant and an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes.

Day 2: Visit the "Lost City of the Incas Machu Picchu'" and return to Cusco
Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
The second day begins early. Breakfast is at 5:00 AM at the hotel. Then, we take a bus at 5:30 AM to Machu Picchu. From 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, you will have a guided tour of Machu Picchu. You will see highlights like the Temple of the Sun, the Main Square, and the Intihuatana.
Free Exploration and Descent to Aguas Calientes
After the guided tour, you'll have free time until noon to explore Machu Picchu on your own. Optionally, you can hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, provided you have reserved these tickets in advance. Around 12:00 PM, you'll take a bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch at a restaurant of your choice.
Afternoon: Return to Cusco
You will have free time until 3:00 PM. You can explore Aguas Calientes, shop for souvenirs, or relax. The train back to Ollantaytambo leaves at 3:00 PM. Once in Ollantaytambo, a bus will take you back to Cusco. You will arrive around 7:00 PM. Your trip will end with a transfer to your hotel.
