New Circuits for Touring into Machu Picchu 2024

Circuits for Machu Picchu 2025

Updated Circuits for Machu Picchu in 2025

When visiting Machu Picchu there are many things that you will need to know and decide before booking your ticket to the Inca Citadel. A few years ago, the government of Peru changed the laws to help protect Machu Picchu from further damage. The government introduced Circuits to help with the flow of the traffic through the site every day.

From the 1st of June the regulations will again change and new Circuits will be introduced for Machu Picchu. When buying your entrance ticket, you will need to decide which circuit you want to explore.

Circuit 1

  • Circuit 1 A is for those who wish to visit Machu Picchu Mountain, you will enter and visit Platform 2, here you will have excellent views of Machu Picchu before hiking for 1 hour to the Mountain. Take as many photos as you wish and enjoy the views before returning to and exiting Machu Picchu.
  • Circuit 1 C is reserved for those who want to visit the Sun Gate or IntiPunku, the hike is about an hour before you arrive. The views of Machu Picchu are magnificent so be sure to have plenty of space on your phone to take photos.
  • Circuit 1 D for those who want to visit the Inca Bridge, this fascinating trek takes you past the beautiful scenery of the Andes.

Circuit 2

  • Circuit 2A traditionally was the most popular with day trippers, as this Circuit explored the most sites of the ruin. The sites that Circuit 2 includes are Temple Plaza, The Sacred Rock, Temple of the Condor and the Pisonay Plaza, to name a few.
  • Circuit 2B takes a slightly different route than 2A, but visits slightly different places.

Circuit 3A, 3B, 3D

All visit the lower part of Machu Picchu including the Doce Vanos, Qolqas Orientales, Water Mirror, Temple of the Condor among other. These circuits also include an entrance to Huayna Picchu mountain, the cone shaped mountain that you see in all the postcards. The hike up to the mountain is 45 minutes and you get to spend sometime enjoying the view. The hike down is also 45 minutes. Please note you need to be in good physical condition to do this trek.

Note Circuits 1A, 1C, 1D, do not include the entrance and tour of the ruins of Machu Picchu, if you wish to explore Machu Picchu you will need a guide and another entrance ticket.

The above information is subject to change and anytime while the government of Peru works on a new plan for Machu Picchu and the surrounding sites.

At this stage we have no information on the Circuits available for the Inca Trail and other hikes to Machu Picchu. The government of Peru has advised us that they will notify all the tourist agencies in Peru as soon as they have the information. We will keep you updated with the changes happening here in Peru.

We appreciate your understanding on this matter, this is something that is out of our control but we will do our best to ensure that your trip to Peru and Machu Picchu will be the adventure of a lifetime.
